CONYERS, GA – Today, the Rockdale County Democratic Committee, with the support of the Democratic Party of Georgia, is endorsing Chairman Oz Nesbitt, Sr. for re-election as Chair of the Rockdale County Board of Commissioners in the June 18th primary runoff.
Chairman Oz Nesbitt, Sr. has served Rockdale County for more than a decade as a commissioner, leading the county with integrity and advancing Democratic priorities from economic opportunity to community safety. By contrast, his opponent, JaNice VanNess, is a well-known Republican and former GOP State Senator.
“Chairman Oz Nesbitt, a proven leader who has delivered for Rockdale County, is the only candidate in this runoff offering voters the transparency they need in order to make an informed decision at the ballot box,” said Congresswoman Nikema Williams, Chair of the Democratic Party of Georgia. “We know and trust Chairman Nesbitt, while his opponent, JaNice VanNess, a Republican, has simply deceived Georgians about her true partisanship in order to win votes to even get to this point.”
“Rockdale County voters need a candidate for Chair of the Board of Commissioners who has values that back up the ‘D’ next to their name,” said Roslyn Ridgeway, Chair of the Rockdale County Democratic Committee. “Chairman Oz Nesbitt is not only a strong Democrat, but he is also a proven leader who has demonstrated that he has the skills, knowledge, and compassion to lead Rockdale County forward.”
Runoff Election Day is Tuesday, June 18, 2024, and early in-person voting begins tomorrow, June 8, and ends on June 14. The Rockdale County Democratic Committee urges all registered voters in Rockdale County to make a plan to vote early, find their polling locations on the Secretary of State’s website, and call the Voter Protection Hotline at 888-730-5816 with any questions.
